"The name's Vincent Gray," he says. "I guess you could call me a ghost hunter of sorts. I came from the Outside."

"An Outsider?" Komachi says. "Don't meet too many of your kind around these parts."

She pulls him up on his feet with a smile. She doesn't seem to mind the accidental kiss at all. On the other hand, Vincent feels himself blush just recalling the sensation. She looks pretty cute. He forces himself to think of something else.

"E-excuse me," he manages. "But can I ask about what happened? I don't remember much."

Komachi pauses to think.

"A couple of hours ago, I heard some loud noises approaching the river," she says. "I decided to check it out, since work has been pretty slow lately. I found some foul smelling creatures wandering the area, so I drove them off. I just happened to find you lying unconscious nearby."

He sighs in relief. Looks like he just had a brush with death.

"Thanks a lot," he says with a bow. "You saved my life."

"E-eh? Don't mind! Don't mind!" she says. "I walk around the area while waiting for customers anyway. A little excitement like that is a very welcome change."

"I see," he says.

Vincent checks his weapons and things. Aside from his weapons, it seems like he only took the things inside his coat.

"A ghost hunter, eh?" she says. "So, could you tell me what those things were? Are they similar to evil spirits?"

He pauses to think.

"I think they were some kind of Ghoul," he says. "They are reanimated corpses that have been corrupted into something more dangerous. There is usually some kind of sorcerer or lich involved with that kind of undead."

Komachi nods in agreement.

"That explains why they seemed pretty weak," she says. "My techniques work especially well against the not-properly-living."

"You fight undead as well?"

"Around these parts, I sometimes have to deal with some rowdy evil spirits." she says. "Though I'll admit that they rarely smell as bad as those things."

She sighs to herself.

"Looks like the incidents are starting to get worse," she says. "Maybe the shrine maiden was right after all."

Komachi smiles at him gently.

"Anyway, I guess I should take you somewhere safe," she says. "Have you visited the Human Village or Hakugyokurou?"

Vincent pauses to think. He should have a little over a day to reset Youmu's seal, but he needs to have physical contact with the container. He can probably do some other things before heading back.
