[X] Call out for Youmu.

---

Vincent's vision is beginning to darken. Not this shit again. What the hell is going on? This is like a bad dream that just won't quit. He can barely see a few feet in front of him.

"Youmu," he cries out weakly. With that last word, his strength finally fails him.

And the world is enveloped in darkness once more.

...

Tired. Exhausted. Drained.

But something is disturbing his rest. Something loud and annoying. Why won't it just leave him alone?

"Still sleepy," he mutters. "Lemme 'lone."

".. up!" someone cries.

He ignores the voice. He doesn't feel like getting up. This soft sensation is simply too comfortable. It feels warm too.

"Get up! Damned lazy recruit!" repeats the voice. Somehow, it feels familiar. But before he can recognize it, his pillow suddenly vanishes. Gravity, being the inconvenience that it is, pulls his head down hard against the ground.

"Ow! W-what the hell?" he mutters as he peeks from his now tear-filled eyes. That really hurt! What kind of person would do that? Really, now!

Before he can argue further, he feels a sudden, sharp pain in his stomach. He curls up in anguish for almost a minute. What the hell? First, someone pulls away his head pillow. Then, someone kicks him while he is down. What kind of inconsiderate jerkoff would -

"Get up! I'm tired of you slowing me down! If you don't get up and follow me, I am going to leave you here for the vultures!" she cries out.

Vincent sits up, rubbing his stomach in protest. He looks up at the person who just woke him up. He stares blankly as he recognizes the person. This can't possibly be right.

"Youmu?" he says uncertainly.

The silver-haired girl glares down at him menacingly. Without warning, she grabs him by the collar and pulls him up roughly.

"Who said that you could call me by that name?" she cries. "Getting yourself a bit comfortable, are you?"

Vincent only gurgles in reply. Her strength is remarkable. She is choking him without any effort at all. With the same power, she tosses him back on the ground like a rag doll.

"Now, what are you supposed to call me again?" says the girl with a sneer.

He coughs violently as he gasps for breath. What else should he call her? Maybe he should call her by her last name? No, that isn't right. It will only earn him another beating. There was something else. Headquarters gave instructions...

"Captain," he whispers.

"Very good," replies the Captain. "At the very least, you can recognize ranks."

The Captain turns around and looks into the distance. Vincent tries to follow her gaze, but the bright morning sun is blinding his eyes.

"I understand that we are short-handed, but I can't believe that they sent a novice like you as my backup. Those pig-headed bureaucrats are fools to spread our forces so thinly!"

She looks back at him.

"Anyway, I do hope you remember what we are hunting today." says the Captain. "I would be a little bit more than displeased if you have already forgotten..."

Vincent pauses to think.
